Tetra, I really, really appreciate you taking the time to post such a complex thoughtful reply. I need to process it, I'm sure I'll have some additional questions for you but you've given me plenty to start with. Thanks again! Edited to add: I knew you were going to jump on the word "need", but I think many, especially behavioral specialists would argue that self expression and creativity rise to the level of a need with humans, that not being able to express ourselves through art, music, literature, etc. can be quite destructive. But I definitely get we don't group it with the food, shelter group.

Why do/don't you believe in God
by LouBelle innow for all the scientists out there this is not a question of proof or anything along those lines.
for my part i choose to believe in a god because i honestly believe there is one (though i did start doubting for a little while) i've always felt that there was more to our existance on earth - and that doesn't stem from me wanting to live forever or as a spirit, as i don't even know if that will happen.
i also believe in him because many many times when i could not carry on, on my own strength, i managed to pulled through.

before debating the existence of god, it is necessary to define him.
the god i grew up with was a pretty specific dude.

What if I throw a goat on the habachi at midnight Tetra, will that get me off the hook? Edited to add: Tetra, go look at the believe in God thread, I seriously want to hear your thoughts on my question.

I always like to do a cost benefit analysis of any contemplated action. Not sure the pay off is that compelling for me to convert.

Just a quick question after reading the last 7 pages. Tetra, you and LT were sort of going back and forth about science answering most of the fundamental questions of human existence. My question is a little off that vein, it doesn't seem to me that science speaks to a huge part of what makes us human, art, literature, etc. That's one of the things I don't get in the evolutionary model, what purpose does poetry, art, music, etc serve for our survival. Why would nature breed into us the desire to paint masterpieces, write Hamlet, build the Sistine Chapel, etc. How does the scientfic/evolutionary model account for those human needs?

STP, I agree Brett hasn't been himself the last season or two, and the thing with Strahan was goofy, but he has played hard his whole career and you could probably fill a couple of highlight reels with his exploits. I just think he is still trying to play the same way as when he was 25 rather than adjusting his game.

Old Flame, its not going to be the same game without Brett. He was one of the best and is going to be on a fasttrack to Canton. It will be interesting to see which of the upcoming quarterbacks can become the next generation of Farve/Montana/Elway/Marinos. But I don't think the Pack is going to have what it takes to get him a ring his last season.
